OCHS Chapel

Gothic arches and quatrefoils were a consistent liturgical design feature that continued to arise during the inspiration of the creative design process. The ceiling represents being under the mantle of the Blessed Mother and mystically in the womb of our Mother church to then go out to the world sharing what and who we received the word of God and being a reflection of your reception of Jesus in the Eucharist to the world. The aisle representing our beautiful journey through life towards eternity, toward the altar where our Lord is sacrificed to become his very body and blood, for us to receive in the Eucharist our very own grace of eternity here on earth a statue of Our Lady of the Assumption sits to the left of the crucifix and Tabernacle and of saint Joseph and the infant Jesus on the right. The saints of the stained glass were very intentionally selected to teach how the lives of each of the saints were lived in Christ to educate each of us on how to live for God. Each saint is holding something specific they are attributed to bringing to us in the church to be reminded to live a life of faith in God. For example, St. Carlo Acutus and his devotion to the Eucharist and bringing souls to Jesus through the website he created, which compiled information on Eucharistic miracles that have taken place around the world The print of Our Lady of Guadalupe hangs to the right of the image of divine mercy in the back as a reminder of the first novena to raiseised funds then a year later on the same feast for the contractor and blessing of the space and lastly, a third novena to her and despite unexpected delays made known the need for the chapel’s dedication to be on her glorious feast day of December 12th, 2025. This project has been a wonderful example of what God’s people can do when we come together for His honor and glory.
